Dani Viverito has always had a soft spot for dogs. As a kid, she’d bring them home anytime she found a stray or injured dog on the street. That love and compassion for dogs has carried over into adulthood as she and her husband currently have seven rescues.
If there was ever a dog in need, they’d take it in and try to give them the very best life. They just gradually became rescuers over the 18.5 years they’ve been together and have had just as many rescues!
It’s a lot of different dogs with different backstories living under one roof, so there’s a strict schedule that everyone follows to make sure everything runs as smoothly as possible and no one is left out.
They all get along, but two of the dogs are a bit more “unstable.” So Dani has the group of five on one schedule with the other group of two on another, and she swaps them out every three hours. All of the dogs have equal time to play, eat, snuggle, and potty. 🙂
And when it’s nap time, the dogs know exactly where to go because they all have their very own beds in designated bedrooms. Dani calls out “cookie time,” and that’s their cue. Each dog has their very own toddler bed that fits them perfectly!
“Jax, Sasha and Annabelle are in one room and Muppet is in the other with Harlin. When Tyler and Tucker are down they each have their own room,” Dani told The Dodo.
Dani got the idea to buy each dog their own toddler bed because she used to have a few queen-sized mattresses lying around for the dogs who had trouble getting up onto couches and beds. But the big, heavy mattresses were hard to move and clean. So she switched to tiny individual beds instead.
With the toddler beds, she can wash all the sheets at once and the comforters two at a time. It’s also easier to sweep, vacuum, and mop around the lighter beds.
Living in a home with seven rescues is a lot of work, but it’s also a lot of fun for this couple. Dani and her husband wouldn’t trade their lives for anything!
