Nuka is a gentle giant of a dog who’s always gotten along with the other types of animals in his house while growing up. So when a local pet shop was looking for emergency homes for their animals due to the COVID-19 shutdown, the family decided to help out. And that’s when Nuka welcomed a gray and white rat named Blue into the home!
And the rat took to Nuka right away! The German Shepherd had been trained as a pup to lie on the floor when Mom enters the room with a small animal so he could settle down before playing. This allowed Blue to cuddle up into the dog’s thick fur like he would a nest, and they napped adorably.
They do it all the time now, and Nuka won’t budge in order to not disturb his little sleeping buddy. And the dog will also lick the rat to give him a bath, and Blue doesn’t mind at all! 🙂
They have the perfect personalities for each other.
It’s hard to tell who likes whom more, but they’re so comfortable around each other that Blue can even use the dog’s body as a playground! Nuka allows it as he just wants his rat friend to be happy. 🙂
