A woman broke the rules in the name of helping some neglected dogs. Who could blame her? Pia Triviño of Santa Rosa in the Philippines took to social media to tell the story of two dogs behind a locked gate that were the victims of a bank seizure. As a result, the dogs were unfed and neglected.
“I was told that this house was taken by the bank from the previous owners and they weren’t allowed to get their stuff inside including the dogs because apparently it was considered a ‘thing,'” she wrote on Facebook. “Clearly they’re no longer fed properly, no more baths and they lie next to their dirt. They’re skinny and almost looks that they’re going to die soon.”
Pia had asked neighbors to feed the dogs, but eventually took the task upon herself. And a good neighbor donated 10 pounds of food to help.
“The dogs hesitated to come at first,” wrote Pia Triviño. “Probably traumatized from weeks of not having anything to eat. But slowly they approached the plastic container of food and fresh water we managed to slip under the steel gates. They ate it all in less than 2 minutes.”
She was unable to actually free the dogs, but hope was not lost. According to Pia, the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) got on the case!
We’re so glad she took the steps necessary to help these poor dogs — even if it did mean breaking some rules!
