Little Bear was born as a result of basement breeding and separated from his mother way too soon. He was sold online before being able to take care of himself at all, and his new owner was not happy with the work it would take to raise the puppy.
At just four weeks old–way too young to be separated from his mother–Little Bear was bought on Craigslist for $600.
But when the new owner found out the pup needed to be bottle-fed, he wanted to get rid of him right away.
He then contacted Social Tees Animal Rescue and explained that he bought the puppy for his six-month-old son but was turned off by the fact that Little Bear would require so much work.
The man made it clear that if the rescue group didn’t pick up Little Bear, he’d leave him on the street. So they rushed to his rescue…
Social Tees took Little Bear in and gave him the bottle feedings he so desperately needed. They also learned that Little Bear came from a basement breeder.
Puppies who come from basement breeders are separated from their mothers way too early and would surely die without the proper care. Little Bear was lucky to have someone step in.
And things are now looking up for Little Bear who had a rough start to life. His first vet visit went well and he’s making normal progress for a pup his age! 🙂
When his teeth come in, he’ll be able to eat all by himself. In the meantime, he’s awfully comfy surrounded by people who love him.
When old enough, Little Bear would be put up for adoption and eventually get that loving forever home he’d always deserved. 🙂
Little Bear is just one example of dogs being bred for money by people who don’t care about about their well-being. Thankfully, there are people and organizations ready to step up and fight.
