A family out swimming witnessed a dog being thrown off a nearby bridge down onto the rocks below. The dog was able to start slowly crawling away despite his pain. The kind people rushed to his aid and took him to a clinic for help.
“He was kept overnight in a nearby clinic until he was stable enough to travel to our trauma center. He has a left rear hip luxation with a bone fragment in the socket, his left front shoulder is injured but not fractured, and he has pneumothorax (a collapsed lung),” Stray Rescue of St. Louis said on Facebook.
It’s hard to understand why someone would do such a thing to an innocent animal, but the dog is alive and in the process of receiving the care he needs. After his major injuries heal, he will undergo hip surgery.
