Staff Sgt. Matthew Books originally deployed in September of 2019 thinking he’d be away for six months. But because of the COVID-19 pandemic, his deployment would be extended to nine months. He missed his family and dogs so much, and when he was finally able to return home, they didn’t care what time he would arrive; They were going to welcome their soldier home with a special reunion.
The dogs thought it was just another nighttime potty break, but their soldier dad stood on the other side of that door. Once they saw him, they ran into his arms! The Golden Retrievers were so surprised and so happy to see Dad once again. It’s a special reunion you won’t want to miss!
