Starving Dogs Found Left Behind In Hoarding Situation After Owner Dies

The Humane Society of Southeast Missouri and Mac Rescue worked together to rescue dozens of dogs and puppies left behind in a horrific hoarding situation on a property in rural southern Missouri. The owner had passed away, and the pets were left to fend for themselves.

It would take rescuers hours to sift through mountains of garbage and crawl through dark areas to find all of the dogs and try to coax them out.

“We have no idea how ‘it gets this bad’ … We can’t focus on that question knowing each story of WHY is deep and intertwined for years,” Mac Rescue said on Facebook.

“We can’t focus on that why because these dogs still need us and sadly nobody will know the answer,” they continued. “As this dynamic sweaty exhausted crew loaded them into the van, we all took a collective breath for these 8 and we are actively forming a plan to collect the rest who scattered.”

Rescuers were able to find and load up eight dogs into their van to take to the clinic to receive treatment and care. Sadly, five other dogs on the property had already perished. They are looking for foster homes for them until they’re ready to be adopted.

“Today is a new day for 8 dogs with zero hope of survival yesterday,” Mac Rescue said. “Today they start writing a new story.”
