Loving 89-Year-Old Woman Has Knitted Over 450 Coats For Shelter Dogs

Crafty 89-year-old Maisie Green has always loved knitting, and she loves dogs. She decided to put her two passions together and start knitting coats and blankets for shelter dogs in need. She donates these items to Dogs Trust, a rehoming center in Basildon, England.

The loving and selfless woman has made over 450 coats and blankets so far, and she’s not about to let up anytime soon. She knits while watching television, and the hobby certainly keeps her busy. A coat takes her about one day to complete, and a blanket around three days.

Maisie is more than happy to help the furry residents at Dogs Trust. Shelters can be scary places for dogs, and they can find comfort in some little things such as these coats and blankets. They help the dogs feel more at home while awaiting their forever families. 🙂

The Dogs Trust Facebook page states, “Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity. Through its network of 20 Rehoming Centres across the UK (and now one in Ireland) the charity cares for over 16,000 stray, unwanted and abandoned dogs each year. Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy, and will never put a healthy dog to sleep.”
